  How did you decide on these specific questions? I was searching the web to find out how Mark Warner stands on these issues, but couldn't find anything that would tell me either way. He does have some solid plans in terms of off-shore drilling (being in a coastal state) and tax breaks for fuel-efficient cars, but it seems that the only way to get the candid answers to your questions is if he responds.
  
  Could you see asking broader questions that could be answered by the community if a candidate doesn't respond (like "Do you support funding research into alternative fuels?"), or having different questions depending on region?

    Good question Ben,
    
    The process for deciding the questions was long and certainly not a casual endeavor. The 6 environmental organizations mentioned in the "About this Project" section got together and worked on the questions. The groups all have varying positions on the issues, but we feel like we were able to strike a good balance in what we wanted to ask the candidates.
