McCain's "victory" and Bush's "victory" is something that exists only on their own stage sets or in their heads. The war has been a disaster and the know it. Only an ostrich or an ideologue (or someone who was both) could believe, as Palin puts it, that "victory in Iraq is finally in sight."...

History shows that government intervention in banking systems can carry its own dangers, with money funneled to political favorites instead of an economy’s innovators.the political irony of such ani intervention happening with a republican adminisration is a marvel to behold. But the article does point out a recurrent danger, whatever the administration. Until recently I would have said that if we can keep politics out of the justice dept we can also keep it out of the banking system.
