1- Opening and Closing the Margin
Click on the vertical blue Refame It bar on the right side of your browser to open the Margin.
To close the margin go to the
menu and click 'Close Margin'.
2- Displaying Comments
The Margin contains two viewing modes for you to choose from. "List View," and "Stub View,"
. Choosing either the "List View," or "Stub View" will then give you access to "Detail View" where you can read through a thread of comments by clicking either the Comment Preview or the Comment Stub
.
List View:
List View lets you see a few lines of a limited number of comments all at the same time. This list can also be filtered by using the Filter Drop-Down Menu located in the Margin Control Bar, or through the Margin Preferences within the Margin Menu.
Stub View:
Each Comment is given a Comment Stub
. Each Comment Stub contains any number of Comments and Replies and can be previewed when moused over.
To view the entire thread in Detail View, just click on a Stub.
The One-to-One Stub View locks the Margin and the page together forcing them to scroll together at the same time.
The Proportional Stub View allows the page and the Margin to scroll at different speeds. This lets you to quickly glance over all of the Comment Stubs associated with the page.
Detail View:
Detail View gives you a closer look at the entire thread within one particular Comment. This view also lets you reply, rate, bookmark and share. Click
to return to either List or Stub View.
Page Comments:
Page Comments refer to the entire page you are viewing. When present, they can be accessed by clicking
located right below the Margin Control Bar.
Orphaned Comments:
A comment becomes 'orphaned' if the original reference can no longer be located. Once a comment is 'orphaned' it can still be viewed and replied to by clicking
located right below the Margin Control Bar.

Reframe It Social Networking Tools let your voice be heard!
1 -
Following
Following allows you to keep up-to-speed with any number of people who are using Reframe It.
You can 'Follow' any member of Reframe It who is visible to you by clicking on the 'Follow' icon and selecting one of the options from the drop-down menu.
When you follow a Reframe It member you will receive updates keeping you informed of that person's activity.
Following someone 'Anonymously' allows you to keep up-to-date with their comments without letting them know.
If you follow someone openly they will be asked if they want to follow you in return
If two people follow each other they automatically become 'Friends'.
2 - Privacy
Any comment that you make will be seen by the entire Reframe It community unless you specify otherwise; Un-check the 'Share with the Entire Reframe It Community' checkbox to make a comment private. When you do this, you may still share this comment with any of your 'Private Groups'
A 'Private Comment' may be shared with any number of private groups that you are a member of, in which case the other members of those private groups will be able to see and respond to your comment.
If you do not share your private comment only you will be able to see it.
Groups have three separate privacy settings of their own (see below.)
3 -
Groups and Subgroups
Reframe It users can create groups to allow people and comments to be gathered together in useful ways.
'Public Groups' may be seen by anyone and anyone may contribute to a public group.
'Restricted Groups' may be seen by anyone but only group members may contribute to a restricted group.
A 'Private Group' (and the comments shared with it) is only visible to the members of that private group.
Any group may contain any number of 'Subgroups'. Subgroups inherit the same privacy settings of their parent (a pubic subgroup may not be created inside a private group for instance.)
