Is there a committee in charge of this? What exactly does discretionary mean? And how am I supposed to know that the funding for this is not being misappropriated?

$70.0 billion as an emergency allowance to support activities related to the Global War on Terror into 2009.

In the meantime our federal deficit will grow to $400 Billion dollars after shrinking for three years. Once again the funding that this country is putting into the military is causing us to further our debt, weaken our infrastructure, and destroy public programs that the U.S.A. needs. I need some sound logic when I go to war and then continually ask for billions of dollars to support it.

$515.4 billion for the Department of Defense’s (DOD's) base budget—a nearly 74-percent increase over 2001.

That is nearly a 7% increase from last year's military spending yet Medicare, health care for the elderly, is expected to be cut from 7% to 5% in the next five years. We cannot reasonably expect to pour the amount of funds that we are as a country into our military budget while refusing to look at the inadequate amount of funding supporting programs vital to our society as a country.

Why is Hulu more valued by advertisers than YouTube?

This is because of the value proposition that Hulu is presenting to their consumers. Youtube requires a viewer with set directives in mind to navigate and understand the mass of content. While Youtube does supply some widgets and other things with which to find new content Hulu is providing content that is already desired and wanted therefore being a hundred times more valuable.

The complex brew of aid, loans and tuition leads many low-income families to greatly overestimate the cost of college. Many just give up.

This is the saddest part. Even though we have a great dissection of the problem above I do not believe that this author is looking at the correct solution. We’re launching on the most extraordinary expenditures without a real consideration of the policy alternatives. And that dialogue, whatever it is, among policy elites has not penetrated the campaign discussion of the economy.

I completely agree. How come the focus comes to a burning point during election season but then as soon as the election is over everyone assumes that it is ok?
